Kia Telluride Concept Unveiled With Innovations Aplenty

Kia has officially introduced its innovative conception for a full-size SUV, known as the Kia Telluride concept. Experts and the public alike were able to see the unveiling on January 11 at the North American International Auto Show.

The Idea

Currently just a concept, the Telluride can carry 7 passengers in a 3 row design. The luxury SUV is based on an existing platform. It would feature an upright physique, athletic stance, and cutting-edge technology.

Based on an improved Sorento chassis, the Telluride is longer, taller, and wider than the modern Sorento CUV and allows Kia to visualize what a full-size, seven-passenger Kia SUV could look like. It is.

There are presently no plans to put the Telluride into production, but Kia has historically delivered production automobiles that strongly resemble their predecessors, which makes the would-be Telluride a highly possible production candidate.

Ingenious Design

In designing the Telluride concept, special attention has been paid to the comfort and riding experience of passengers in the second row. The second row features four black-leather captain’s seats that can nearly flat recline and have large foldaway footrests.

Each second-row seat features precise, “diamond-cut” design in the seatback that have smart sensors to ascertain the passenger’s vitals, which is show on interior door panel screens and methodically synchronized with a Light Emitted Rejuvenation (LER) system, which employs a large, uniquely designed LED panel fixed below the sunroof that displays a therapeutic light pattern to treat jetlag and boost energy levels.

Rear-seat passengers are further considered in the offering of Swipe Command, which is a slim, touch-sensitive, interactive band that is affixed to the center console in the second row. It enables passengers in the rear-seat to browse through and choose desired media by just swiping their hand. Their media selection is then played through the seven-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system or through a pair of Harman/Kardon headphones wirelessly charge when stowed in the console.

At the front of the vehicle, the center stack houses a compartment that enables wireless cellphone charging.

Another innovative feature on the Telluride would be Kia’s inclusion, for the first time, of 3D-printed components, which appear on the Telluride’s dashboard, door panels, and steering wheel.
