Kia Forte

Recently announced 2017 Kia Forte specs contain exciting new additions, including a 2.0L engine, updated six-speed automatic transmission, and a refreshed design. The Forte family of compact vehicles had its best sales year ever in 2015, and with the enhancements coming for 2017, Kia is poised for even more success.

Performance

The new standard 2.0L Atkinson I-4 engine replaces the 1.8L inline-four-cylinder engine and generates 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes with a six-speed manual transmission but a six-speed automatic transmission is also available. The 2.0L GDI I-4 is still an option with the automatic transmission, and that combo puts out 164 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. Not only is the shifting smoother on the re-engineered six-speed automatic, but fuel economy is improved, as well.

Drive Mode and Driver Assistance Systems

Kia’s Drive Mode System is available on some models, and it allows drivers to select Normal, Eco, or Sport modes to change their experience. The car automatically adjusts engine, transmission, steering, and more to enhance control and performance. New advanced driver assistance systems for preventing accidents are also available for some models, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Dynamic Bending Light, which angles the lights strategically around corners and bends via information from the steering wheel for better night vision.

Exterior Design

Kia has amped up the European sport-sedan style on the 2017 Forte. It has a new front bumper and grille with a “tiger nose” grille connecting to redesigned headlights, available with Xenon high-intensity discharge, and revamped taillights with the option for LEDs. Two designs are offered, a fluid and sophisticated version and another, more aggressive style. Kia has also added a new S trim aimed squarely at the sportiest part of the market. Positioned between the entry-level LX and top-line EX trims, it includes 16-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, chrome exhaust tip, LED positioning lights, and sport-tuned suspension.
