Kia Announces Free Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Software Updates for Customers

More Kia drivers can now enjoy the convenience of in-vehicle cellphone connectivity because of a recent move by Kia to expand the availability of free Kia Apple CarPlay and Kia Android Auto software updates to motorists.

As telematics and infotainment systems become ever more advanced, Kia is excited to keep in step by providing these cutting-edge software updates to customers, providing Kia drivers with even greater convenience and maximizing the connectivity in their vehicles.

Eight Kia vehicles are currently eligible for the software updates. Owners of new and previously owned Kia models can get more details about the updates at myuvo.com.

Eligible Models

The following Kia automobiles can now get the free software updates for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay if their vehicle is equipped with UVO3 or a compatible navigation system:

Convenient Connectivity

Handy hands-free connectivity is offered through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay—helping drivers stay safely focused when they’re out on the road.

Connecting to the Android device of a driver or passenger, Android Auto enables in-vehicle access to smartphone apps and functions through the UVO infotainment system found in Kia automobiles. Functions that are accessible through this feature include voice-guided Google Maps navigation, hands-free calling and text messaging, voice recognition, and live music streaming through Google Play Music.

Apple CarPlay provides similar convenient connectivity for iPhone users, enabling UVO infotainment system connectivity when users connect an iPhone to a Kia vehicle’s USB port. Apple CarPlay facilitates in-car calling, messaging, music access, directions, traffic info, and more. Apple CarPlay also includes hands-free connectivity through Siri voice control or the touchscreen and other controls found inside an equipped Kia vehicle.
